No. 5 Women's Tennis Sweeps No. 6 Loyola New Orleans
ROME, Ga.- The women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of a national tournament for the fourth time in program history on Friday. The team advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 ITA NAIA Women's Indoor Tennis Championships with their 4-0 win against No. 6 University of Loyola New Orleans.
Playing as the four seed in the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs took the doubles point from the No. 5 seed Loyola New Orleans to take the first lead. The doubles team of Olivia Alcala and Ana Serrano (No. 1) and Ivet Prat and Ruslana Kovalenko (No. 2) swept their respective doubles matches with 6-0 scores.
Kovalenko, Alcala, and Honoka Tsuji came the team the win in the first-to-clinch format. Kovalenko took the win in the No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2 while Alcala won the No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-1). Tsuji was the fourth point of the match, winning the No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0.
TWU (2-0) moves on to the semifinals where they face No. 1 Keiser University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
