No. 11 Baseball Opens Series Against Reinhardt with Win

WALESKA, Ga.- The 11th-ranked baseball team opened the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series against the Reinhardt University Eagles 5-1. The team began the three-game series on Friday.

Tennessee Wesleyan took the first lead of the game in the first inning. David Ballenilla started the hitting with a double and scored on Allan Gil Fernandez's single, giving the team a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs grew their lead in the fourth inning.

Ballenilla started the scoring again in the fourth, this time with a solo home run. Fernandez, after getting on with a double, gave the team a 3-0 lead by scoring on Kolton Reynolds' double. A 3-1 lead grew to the final score in the eighth inning.

Brayan Epinoza and Reynolds were responsible for the final two runs in the team's 5-1 win. Espinoza made the score 4-1 when Ethan Wright scored on his double while an error on Reynolds' hit gave Espinoza the time to score. 

Justin Jackson got the pitching win, finishing with seven strikeouts in seven innings. 

The win moved the team's record to 28-9 overall and 15-3 in the AAC.
