Women's Basketball Falls Bryan

DAYTON, Tenn.- The women's basketball team went on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Wednesday. The team made the short trip up the road to Dayton to face their rivals, the Bryan College Lions. The team fell in the contest 73-53. 

Julia Howard scored the first two baskets for the Lady Bulldogs, making the score 9-4 on her second field goal. Jada Edwards and Talley Lawson both scored to bring the team within three points of the lead, making the score 14-11. Over the remaining three minutes of the quarter though, Bryan scored 14 consecutive points to tke a 28-11 lead. 

Camryn Brown ended the scoring drought with three free throws and a pair of free throws by Jalaya Lindsey moved the score to 30-18. With 2:28 remaining in the first half, Lawson's three-point jumper helped the team cut the Bryan lead down to eight points, making the score 33-25. The team was not able to carry the momentum though as the opponents took a 41-25 lead into halftime.

Howard began the second half like she started the game, with a basket. Lindsey made a three-pointer but the team went cold until a free throw by Edwards made the score 52-31. The team ended the third quarter with a Leslie Hames three-pointer and a Jordan White layup to make the score 58-40 to begin the fourth quarter. 

The fourth quarter saw the Lady Bulldogs go through a offensive dry spell as the team only score three points through the first five minutes. Points by Howard, Lindsey, Hames, and White pushed the team over the 50-point mark before the end of the game.

Lawson and Lindsey each had 10 points for the team. 

TWU moves to 6-12 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
