Men's Tennis Upset No. 1 Keiser to Move to ITA Championship
ROME, Ga.- The men's tennis team clinched a trip to the championship match of the 2026 ITA NAIA Men's Team Indoor Championships on Saturday. The third-ranked/fourth seeded Bulldogs defeated the No. 1 team in the NAIA, Keiser University 4-1 to earn the trip.
TWU took the first lead, winning the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles. David Leon and Nicolas Cortes won the No. 2 doubles 6-4 and Maceo Simpson and Agustin Gaia won the No. 3 doubles 7-6 [11-9].
The rest of the points for the Bulldogs came in the No. 3 singles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles. Cortes got his second win of the day in the No. 3 singles, winning the match 7-6 [7-0], 6-3 while Asier Pascual tok the No. 5 singles 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Santiago Russo took his point by his opponent retiring in the match leading 6-0, 5-0.
TWU (5-1) will play for the championship on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
