ROME, Ga.- The men's lacrosse team started the 2026 season off with a bang on Friday. The team went on the road and beat NCAA Division II opponent Shorter University 25-2.
TWU ended the first quarter with a 6-1 lead. On their way to that lead, the Bulldogs scored the first three goals, coming off the sticks of Madden Leslie, Reece Ringer, and Jack Driscoll. A team goal along with second goals by both Ringer and Leslie gave the team their five-goal lead at the end of the first.
Two quick goals by the Bulldogs, scored by Ringer and Maddox Mozingo, helped the team lead 8-1 36 seconds into the second quarter. Shorter scored their only other goal after. On their way to 17 straight goals, Tennessee Wesleyan scored nine of them in the second. Leslie and Driscoll each scored three goals in the second quarter frenzy while Jameson Koch, Mozingo, and Garret Beasly each had one goal, giving the team a 17-2 lead at the halftime break.
The third and fourth quarter saw the Bulldogs score four goals each. Leslie had two of the them in third while Micah Decleodt and Ringer had the other two. In the fourth, Colton Winsick scored the three of the team's four goals. Driscoll had the fourth.
Jack Shaw got the win in the net.
TWU (1-0) plays two exhibtion games before hosting the University of Cumberlands in a non-conference home game on Friday, Feb. 13. The game is set for 3:00 p.m.
