No. 8 Baseball Falls in Avista NAIA World Series

LEWISTON, Idaho- The second game of the Avista NAIA World Series did not go as well for the Bulldogs on Monday. The eight-seeded baseball team was unable to score a run in a 5-0 lost to the No. 9 seed Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers.

TWU was not able to turn base-running opportunities in the form of a hit by Rob Gordon and a walk by David Ballenilla into runs in the first inning. The bottom of the first inning saw Indiana Southeast score three runs to put the Bulldogs in a 3-0 hole. The remaining runs by the opponents came in the fourth inning as Tennessee Wesleyan fell for the first time at the World Series.

Isaiah Williams had seven strikeouts in four innings of relief.

The Bulldogs (44-15) move to the elimination portion of the bracket with the loss. The team will face No. 6 Johnson University on Tuesday. The two conference foes will play at 3:00 p.m.
