No. 5 Baseball Goes Cold Against No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett

ATHENS, Tenn.- It was a tough night on the diamond for the baseball team on Tuesday. The fifth-ranked Bulldogs fell to No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett College 12-4.

Trailing 1-0 after the top of the first, the Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the first. With two outs already in the inning, Kolton Reynolds earned a walk. Josh Shelly followed with a single that Reynolds made it to third on. An error on Bryant O'Neill hit gave Reynolds the time to score, tying the game 1-1 after the first inning.

The offense went cold though as TWU did not score again until the sixth inning. Trailing 8-1, Cody McGill hit a sacrifice fly that scored Shelly. TWU cut into the lead one more time in the inning as Brayan Espinoza scored on Ethan Wright's single.

The Bulldogs were not able to find the offense to complete a comeback as the remaining run the team scored was a Allan Gil Fernandez home run in the bottom of the ninth.

Fernandez, Wright, and McGill all finished with an RBI.

Tennessee Wesleyan (16-5) jumps back into conference play on Friday when they travel to face Montreat College at 2:00 p.m.
