Shelly and Jackson Sweep AAC Weekly Awards
WALESKA, Ga.- The baseball team swept the first edition of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball weekly awards on Monday. Josh Shelly was named the Player of the Week and Justin Jackson took home the Pitcher of the Week award.
In helping the team go 4-0 to open the season, Shelly saw all four of his hits result in extra bases. The Houma, La. native hit a double, two triples, and a home run on his way to bringing seven runs and scoring five times. The senior hit .286 through the four games and had a slugging percentage of .857.
In Jackson's win on the mound, the pitcher pitched a no-hitter through six innings. The senior allowed just one hit and one walk in 6.2 innings he was on the mound. The Naples, Fla. native struck out eight batters.
This is the first weekly award for both players. The next edition of the award will be announced on Monday, Feb. 9.
