Volleyball Earns Multiple AAC Awards
WALESKA, Ga.- The volleyball awards were announced by Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Thursday. The volleyball team saw a two student-athletes earn All-Conference honors along with a Champions of Character representative and multiple All-Academic members.
Megan Thompson was named to the All-AAC First Team. The libero led the AAC in digs per set with 5.12 and was fourth in the conference with 476 digs. The senior, who played in 26 matches and 93 sets, set a career high with the 5.12 digs per set this season.
Alley Hibdon was named to the All-AAC Second Team. The setter who also split time as a hitter finished the season with 5.62 assists per set, the eighth best in the conference, while accumulating 635 assists. The sophomore also had 245 kills during the season in 32 matches and 113 sets.
The team's representative on the AAC Champions of Character Team was Gracelyn Jackson. To be named to the Champions of Character Team, a player must exhibit the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
Bailey Dalton, Hunter Ford, Hibdon, Jackson, Savannah Jones, Janie Merritt, Morae Owens, and Thompson all earned a spot on the AAC All-Academic Team. To be selected to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be in sophomore in academic standing and maintain a 3.25 grade-point average.
