Volleyball Drops Road Finale to Milligan
Tennessee Wesleyan started strong with kills from Alley Hibdon and Smith, quickly gaining a lead of 3-0. Despite early efforts, Milligan found their rhythm and countered with several scoring runs, eventually pulling away to claim the first set, 25-16.
TWU came back with a vengeance in the second set. Strong plays from Smith and Janie Merritt helped TWU secure an early lead. Kills from Amya Sutton and service aces from Merritt kept Milligan on their toes. TWU maintained momentum throughout the set, winning it 25-21 and evening the match at 1-1.
Milligan regained control in the third set, capitalizing on a series of unforced errors by TWU and effectively blocking their attacks. Despite a valiant effort from the Bulldogs, Milligan dominated this set 25-10.
In a thrilling final set, TWU put up a strong fight, with key kills from Smith and Hibdon, and solid defensive blocks by Jia Weathersby. TWU even pulled ahead 22-21, pushing Milligan to the brink. However, Milligan rallied in the final points to narrowly win the set 25-23 and secure the match.
