Women's Outdoor Track and Field Debuts at Lee University Invitational
CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The women's outdoor track and field team ran at their first outdoor meet of the season on Friday and Saturday. The team was in action at the Lee University Invitational.
The team saw many successes during the meet. The team had nine top-15 finishes at the meet and five qualifiers for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships. The team also saw a school record set.
Finishing in the top 15 of events were:
- Chaggie Bassar: 100m Dash- 12.69; 14th | 200m- 26.07; 12th
- Paige Manney: 100m Hurdles- 15.41; 6th | High Jump- 1.53m; 7th
- Ann Moses: 100m Hurdles- 16.79; 14th
- Ashlynne Brown: 3000m Steeplechase- 12:55.57; 3rd
- Madison Rooker- Heptathlon- 3,480 points; 7th
- Caley Essie- Heptathlon- 2,545 points; 14th
- 4x100m Relay (Manney, Bassar, Moses, Morgan Stancil): 49.66- 5th
Rooker's points in the Heptathlon were a school record.
Brown, Moses, Manney, and Bassar qualified for the conference championship in their events.
The team will compete again on Friday at the 2024 Kennesaw State Invitational.
