Kovalenko Named AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WALESKA, Ga.- For the third time this season and second week in a row, a women's tennis player won an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) weekly award. This time, Ruslana Kovalenko was named the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. 

In helping the Lady Bulldogs win four matches this past week, Kovalenko was 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. Against NCAA Division II opponent University of Indianapolis, Kovalenko was a part of a 6-0 win in the No. 2 doubles match and a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 win in the No. 1 singles spot. Kovalenko picked up two more wins the following match against Johnson University, winning the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3 and the No. 2 doubles 6-2.

In the next two matches against No. 6 Xavier University of Louisana and No. 18 Dillard University, the first to clinch format was used and both of her singles matches and one of the doubles matches did not finish. The doubles match against Xavier was a 7-6 win in the No. 2 doubles. 

This is the first weekly award for Kovalenko. The next edition of the award will be announced on Monday, March 23.
