No. 7 Women's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Against Columbia

ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's tennis, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, returned to their home court on Friday. The team hosted the Columbia College Koalas, beating the visitors 6-1 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match.

TWU went ahead quick, securing the doubles point to lead 1-0. Olivia Alcala and Astrid Staksrud took the No. 1 doubles match 6-1 while the duos of Ivet Prat and Honoka (No. 2) and Jenn Marie Gjos and Paula Cigarran (No. 3) won their doubles match with 6-0 scores. Scores of 6-0 in the No 2 doubles by Julia Richardet, and Honoka Tsuji and 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles by Jenn Maria Gjos and Paula Cigarran helped the team win the doubles point. The win gave the team a 1-0 lead. 

Five wins in the six singles match helped the Lady Bulldogs leave the court with their fourth win of the season. Olivia Alcala (6-0, 6-0, No. 1), Prat (6-0, 6-2, No. 3) Tsuji (6-0, 6-0, No. 4), Ciggarn (6-0, 6-0, No. 5), and, Julieta Beltramino (6,0, 6-0, No. 6) were the singles matches winners for TWU

The Lady Bulldogs (4-2, 3-0 AAC) gets some time off before returning to their home court for their next match on Feb. 27. The conference against Milligan University is set for 2:00 p.m.
