No. 6 Women's Tennis Wins 4-3 Battle Against No. 13 Union

ATHENS, Tenn.- The No. 6 women's tennis team hosted a ranked opponent on Wednesday. The team faced the No. 13 team in the NAIA, the Union Commonwealth University Lady Bulldogs, in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match. 

TWU fell behind early as Union took two of the three doubles matches to win the first point. Olivia Alcala and Laia Berne won the No. 1 doubles match 6-1.

In the singles, the home Lady Bulldogs picked up the four points they needed to win the match. Alacala gave the team one of the points, winning the No. 1 singles 6-0, 7-6 [7-4]. Berne gave the team two points with a win in the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Ivet Prat took the win in the No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-2 to give the team three points and Raquel Canadas clinched the match for the team by winning the No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-1. The final score was 4-3 in favor of Tennessee Wesleyan.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs (11-3, 5-0 AAC) at home for a non-conference matchup against the University of Montevallo, an NCAA Division II opponent. The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
