No. 6 Women's Tennis Wins Against Belmont Abbey

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The women's tennis team concluded their time at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase on Friday. The sixth-ranked team took on the Belmont Abbey University Lady Crusaders.

Olivia Alcala, Laia Berne, Mercedes Chasset, Julia Richardet, Ivet Prat, and Astrid Staksrud all won their doubles matches. Alcala and Berne won the No. 1 doubles 6-2, Chasset and Richardet won the No. 2 doubles 6-4 and the Prat and Staksrud used a 6-1 score to win the No. 3 doubles. The wins gave the team a 1-0 lead. 

Alcala, Berne, Prat, and Raquel Canadas had wins in the singles matches. Alcala won the No. 1 singles 63-6, 6-2, 10-6 while Berne won the No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3. Prat took the No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-2 to go along with Canadas win in the No. 5 spot 6-4, 7-6, giving the team a 5-2 win. 

Tennessee Wesleyan (9-3) moves back into conference play for their next match. The team travels to face the newcomers of the conference, the University of Pikeville, on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
