Women's Lacrosse Score 17 Consecutive Goals in Win Against Randolph College

ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's lacrosse team scored the first 17 goals on their way to their sixth consecutive win on Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs beat NCAA Division III opponent Randolph College 25-2. 

TWU led 7-0 after the first quarter. Olivia Downey started the scoring and the duo of Kate Buchanan and Jozlyn Long exchanged two goals each, giving the team five goals. Aava Downey and Kylie Heinrich ended the quarter with goals, giving the team their seven-goal advantage. 

Stephanie Rocha started the scoring in an eight-goal second quarter. Long scored two consecutive goals, then Jacie Bomar scored two consecutive goals, moving the lead to 12-0. Heinrich, O. Downey, and A. Downey closed the quarter with goals, makig the score 15-0 at halftime. 

Out of the halftime break, America Barajas and Caylor Christman scored to collect the 17th straight goal for the team. After the first goal by Randolph, Abi Weed scored and was followed by goals from Buchanan and Long. Randolph scored their second and final goal of the game near the end of the third quarter. 

Buchanan opened the third scoreless quarter for the opponent with a goal. The path to 25 goals for the Lady Bulldogs went Barajas, O. Downey, Long, and ended with Rocha. 

Long finished with a career-high six goals in the win. Rylee Brendlinger and Alli Duenckel split time in the net.

TWU (8-2) will jump into Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to face No. 4 Reinhardt University at 1:00 p.m.
