Women's Lacrosse Sweeps AAC Weekly Awards

WALESKA, Ga.- For the first time in six seasons, the women's lacrosse team saw a member win an Appalachian Athletic Conference weekly award. The team did not win just one award, they won both weekly awards as Aava Downey was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Rylee Brendlinger was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

In three games, Downey tallied eight goals and six assists. The majority of the freshman's 14 points came in the team's win against Huntingdon, where Downey scored five goals and collected five assists for 10 points. Downey also had three ground balls and two caused turnovers on the week.

Brendlinger went 2-1 in the net for the Lady Bulldogs. The senior finished the week with 20 saves in 150 minutes of time in the net. Brendlinger also had three ground balls.

This is the first weekly award for both Downey and Brendlinger. The next edition of the weekly award is on Monday, Feb. 23.
