Women's Golf Finish Regular Season Second at TWU Spring Invite
NIOTA, Tenn.- The women's golf team played their final event of the regular season on Monday and Tuesday. The team hosted the TWU Spring Invite at Springbrook Golf and Country Club.
Monday:
On the Par 72 course, Maisie Hassall had a score of 78 in the first round, placing her in a tie for first place. June Greene finished the first round with a score of 84 to be in seventh place. A score of 87 put Ashlynn Guy in ninth place while Cadie Prater shot 88 on the first 18 holes to be in 10th place. A score of 98 placed Ashlyn Rawlings in 12th place and Maylie Stout finished in 13th place after the first round with a score of 99.
Tuesday:
The tie did not break in Hassall's favor in the second round as a score of 79 left her one stroke short of the overall lead, giving her a 157 two-round total and second place overall. Hassall was named to the All-Tournament Team with her second-place finish. Greene (90, 174), Prater (92, 180), and Guy (96, 183), all finished back-to-back-to-back on the individual scoreboard in eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively. Stout maintained the 13th spot on the leaderboard after shooting 95 in the second round for a total of 194. Rawlings finished the second round with a score of 110 for a 208 total and 15th place.
On the team scoreboard, the team finished second with scores of 337 and 356, respectively, for a total score of 693.
The team will play for a conference championship and a bid to the national tournament in their final scheduled tournament at the NAIA Direct Qualifier. The tournament is set for Monday and Tuesday at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga.
