Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at AAC Championship
Greeneville, Tenn.- The women's golf team competed for a conference championship on Monday and Tuesday. The team played at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship at Link Hills Golf and Country Club. The tournament also served as the NAIA Direct Qualifier to determine the team and individual who would advance to play at the NAIA National Tournament.
Monday:
After the first round, Maisie Hassall held the top spot in the individual scoreboard with a score of 76. A score of 88 place Ann Sofie Madsen in a tie for 22nd place while Cora Mount was tied for 32nd place with a score of 90.
Bevin Harrill finished the first round tied for 35th after shooting a 91. Morgan Satterfield rounded out the Lady Bulldogs in the field, finishing with a score of 92 to be tied for 37th place.
As a team, TWU was in fourth place out of the nine team conference field. The team combned to shoot 345 in the first round.
Tuesday:
The end of the second and final round saw a three-way tie at the top force a playoff. Hassall was involved in the playoff after shooting an 83 in the second round for a total of 159. Unfortunatley, the playoff did not go Hassall's way as she finished tied for second ultimately. Harrill (84) and Madsen (87) both finished with a total score of 175 to finish tied for 26th.
A score of 86 gave Mount a two-round total of 176 to finish in sole possession of 29th. Satterfield shot an 88 in the second rond for a total of 180 to hold sole possession of 36th place.
The team finished the second round of the tournament with a team score of 340 to tally 685 through the two rounds. The two-round total for the Lady Bulldogs kept them in fourth place.
Hassall's finish made her a member of the All-Tournament Team.
