Women's Golf Tallies Sixth at Eagle Match Play Invitational

Loudon, Tenn.- The women's golf team were back on the links on Monday and Tuesday. The team played in the Eagles Match Play Invitational. This tournament was based on match play instead of stroke play like most tournaments the team plays in during the season.

Monday:

The first round of the match play did not go well for the team. In the best-of-five contest, the Lady Bulldogs were only able to finish even in one of their matches against the University of Loyola-NO. June Greene finished in a tie with her opponent after 18 holes.

The team's first match in the consolation bracket was brighter for the team. TWU won a close contest 3-2 against Faulkner University. Ann Sofie Madsen won her match-up two with one hole left while Cora Mount won by six with four holes remaining. Maisie Hassall was the third win for the team, winning nine up with eight to play.

Tuesday:

The win moved the team into the match for fifth place against Midway University. One of the matches finished tied. Unfortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, Midway took more of the four matches remaining. Madsen won her match by one while Hassall finished in a tie, making them the sixth-place team.

Up next for TWU is the AAC Fall Preview on Oct. 24-25. The preview is being played at the Link Hill Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
