Women's Bowling Has Strong MSC Open
SMYRNA, Tenn.- The women's bowling team bowled in their first two conference events of the season on Saturday and Sunday. The team had a strong showing at the Greater Nashville Open on Saturday and at the Brandon Burns Memorial on Sunday.
Greater Nashville Open:
In the first event of the weekend, the Lady Bulldogs finished eighth in the tournament, knocking down 6,071 pins. In four of the five team games, TWU bowled over 800 to finish with a score of 4,106. After the completion of the 12 baker games, the team added 1,965 to get to their total of 6,071 pins for the tournament.
A score of 864 gave Madison Davis the highest score on the individual scoreboard for the team, placing her in 26th place.
Brandon Burns Memorial:
In the final event of the weekend, the Lady Bulldogs bowled a combined 6,477 to finish seventh at the Brandon Burns Memorial.
Tennessee Wesleyan scored over 800 in every team game, including a game over 900 to finish with 4,317 in the first part of the tournament. The Lady Bulldogs started the baker games with the highest score of 221 in the first game and also had a 201 high score in the baker game number six. Those games helped the team add 2,160 pins to their score for their tournament total.
Davis made the All-Tournament Team, knocking over 1,019 pins to finish third overall in the individual standings.
The finishes at the two MSC events brings TWU's record to 8-8 in the conference, fifth in the standings.
Up next for the team is the Southern Collegiate Classic on Saturday and Sunday. The event takes place in Marietta, Ga.
