Softball Falls to No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett

Lawrenceville, Ga.- The softball team went on the road for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday. The trip took the team to the field of the No. 3 team in the NAIA, the Georgia Gwinnett College Lady Grizzlies.

Game One:

Through the first three innings, neither team scored. The team got hits from Taylor Penning and Courtney Sneed through the first three innings but the team was unable to turn them into runs. The fourth inning saw Georgia Gwinnett score two runs to take over the lead on the scoreboard. Tatum Massengale with a hit in the fifth inning and a walk by Italia Kyle were the remaining baserunners for the team in the game, but neither was able to produce the runs needed to extend or win the game as the team fell by a final score of 2-0.

Isabella Jenkins had three strikeouts in the circle through the first three innings.

Game Two:

The offense was not able to find runs in the second game. Macy Chastain, Sneed, Bailee Phillips, and Caroline Moore had hits in throughout the game. Georgia Gwinnett scored five runs in the game to win the game 5-0.

Phillips struck out six batters in her time in the circle.

TWU (7-6) stays on the road as they return to conference play on Tuesday against Montreat College. The doubleheader is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
