Men's Outdoor Track and Field Finish Fourth at AAC Championships

Black Mountain, N.C.- The time came for the Bulldogs to compete for a conference title this season. The men's outdoor track and field program traveled to Black Mountain, North Carolina to compete at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships, where a team title and individual titles were on the line, on Friday and Saturday. 

During the meet on Friday, the Bulldogs won two individual titles. The team added another individual title on Saturday to give them three individual titles for the meet. The team also saw multiple NAIA "A" and "B" Standards hit. 

Winning individual titles on Friday was: 

  • Tevon Shuler- Men's Long Jump: 7.18m  
  • Shelton Milne- Men's High Jump: 1.96m 

On Saturday, the Men's 4x400m Relay team of Cameron Williams, Tevon Shuler, Ke'Andrae Campbell, and Roni Bailey won the individual title for the event with a time of 3:18.08, five seconds faster than the second-place team. 

Earning All-Conference honors were: 

  • Ke'Andrae Campbell- Men's 200m Dash: 21.65 seconds, Third Place 
  • Cameron Williams- 400m Race: 48.47, Third Place 
  • Dakota Caldwell- Men's 5000m Race Walk: 28:14.25, Second Place 
  • Chris Harper, Cameron Williams, Jeremiah Jones, Ke'Andrae Campbell- 4x100m Relay: 41.40, Second Place 
  • Payt Bussey, Zane Marlow, Caleb Greene, and Daniel Greene- 4x800m Relay: 8:16.37, Third Place 
  • Armoni Hicks- Men's Long Jump: 7.10m, Third Place 
  • Tevon Shuler- Men's Triple Jump: 14.68m, Third Place 
  • Jeremiah Sullivan- Men's Hammer: 51.72m, Second Place 

The marks for Shuler in the Long Jump were an NAIA "B" Standard while Shuler hit an NAIA "A" Standard in the Triple Jump, qualifying for the national meet in both events. The 4x100m Relay Team (Harper, Williams, Jones, and Campbell) qualified for the national meet in the event with their time being an NAIA "A" Standard. 

On the team scoreboard, TWU finished fourth with a team score of 108 points through great performances by the entire team. 

The team returns to action at the Life University Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 5.
