Three Men's Tennis Members Named NAIA All-Americans
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The 2025 NAIA Men's Tennis All-American Teams were announced by the national office on Thursday. Octavio Volpi, David Leon, and Juan Carlos Garcia from the men's tennis team were named to one of the three teams. Honorees were selected by the NAIA All-America Selection Committee. Sixteen student-athletes comprise the first, second, and third teams.
Volpi was named to the First Team. Playing in the No. 1 spot, the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year went 14-5 in singles during the 2024-25 season, including an 8-3 record in the spring portion. The senior from Corrientes, Argentina went 13-1 in doubles play in the No. 2 spot. Volpi finished the season ranked No. 5 in the 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) singles rankings. This is the second consecutive season the two-time AAC Player of the Year has been named to the All-American First Team.
Leon was also named to the First Team. Leon finished the 2024-25 season with a 16-4 overall record, with an 11-2 record in the spring in the No. 3 singles position. Leon was undefeated in AAC play. All-AAC First Team member from Alicante, Spain had a 13-4 doubles record with a 10-1 record in the spring, playing in the No. 3 doubles. Leon was ranked No. 19 in the final ITA singles rankings.
Garcia was named to the Third Team. Garcia went 10-3 in singles while playing in both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots during the season. The Elche, Spain native was 14-1 in doubles play, playing primarily in the No. 2 doubles spot. Garcia was also named to the All-AAC First Team. Garcia was ranked No. 25 in the final ITA singles rankings.
TWU finished the season with a 16-3 overall record and a national semifinalist at the NAIA Tournament.
