Men's Tennis Has Three Named to NAIA All-America Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The national office announced the 2024 NAIA Men's Tennis All-American Teams. Three members of the men's tennis program were named to one of the teams. Honorees were selected by the NAIA All-America Selection Committee. Sixteen student-athletes comprise first, second and third teams. This is the first season the NAIA has selected three teams.
Octavio Volpi was named to the First Team after going 12-1 in singles play during the 2024 season, playing in the No. 1 singles spot. Volpi was named the NAIA National Player of the Week once and named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year. Volpi was also 16-3 during the 2024 season in doubles play. Volpi finished the season ranked No. 9 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) singles rankings.
Sabi Roi was named to the Second Team. Roi finished the 2024 season with a 11-2 record in singles play, including a undefeated record in AAC play. Roi was named to the All-AAC First Team this season. Roi was ranked No. 29 in the final ITA singles rankings.
Patricio Gallegos was named to the Third Team. Gallegos went 13-6 during the 2024 season in singles play while finished 2-0 in doubles play. Gallegos was also named to the All-AAC First Team. Gallegos was ranked No. 33 in the final ITA singles rankings.
TWU finished the season with a 21-2 overall record.
