Men's Tennis Wins AAC Tournament Title for Fourth Season in a Row

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The men's tennis team played for the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Tennis Championship on Saturday. Waiting on the opposite side of them was the No. 2 seeded Reinhardt University Eagles.

The No. 1 seeded Bulldogs took the doubles point. Octavio Volpi and German Delcanto (No. 1 doubles) and Gregorio Magnarelli and Agustin Gaia (No. 3 doubles) each won their matches 6-0 to give the team a 1-0 lead. 

Reinhardt won the first singles match to tie the score 1-1. But wins from Zoilo Rios 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 4 singles match and David Leon 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles match pushed TWU ahead 3-1. Volpi clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 1 match, giving Tennessee Wesleyan a 4-1 victory and their fourth consecutive AAC Tournament Title.

The win gives the Bulldogs (18-1) the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 14-18 in Mobile, Ala.
