No. 2 Men's Tennis Defeats NCAA Division II University of North Georgia 6-1

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The men's tennis team, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, played an NCAA Division II opponent on Saturday. As a part of the inaugural Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase, the team faced the University of North Georgia Nighthawks, the co-host of the event along with Chattanooga Sports. North Georgia is ranked No. 16 in the NCAA Division II ITA rankings.

The team won all the doubles matches to take the first point of the contest. German Delcanto and Octavio Volpi won the No. 1 doubles match 7-6 [7-2] while David Leon and Zoilo Rios (No. 2 doubles) and Gregorio Magnarelli and Agustin Gaia (No. 3 doubles) won their matches with identical 6-4 scores.

On their way to a 6-1 win, Volpi won the No. 1 spot 6-3, 6-3 while Sabi Roi took the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 [10-5]. Delcanto played in the No. 4 spot, winning 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 [10-8] and Rios won the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-4. Leon was the sixth point for the team, winning the No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-0. 

TWU (8-1) will be back in action at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase on Sunday when they face another ranked opponent from NCAA Division II, Columbus State University.
