No. 2 Men's Tennis Claws Truett McConnell
ATHENS, Tenn.- The second-ranked men's tennis team played an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest on Sunday. The team was at home against the Truett McConnell University Bears.
TWU won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. 6-0 wins by No. 2 doubles duo Zoilo Rios and David Leon and No. 3 doubles tandem Gregorio Magnarelli and Agustin Gaia while Octavio Volpi and German Delcanto won the No. 1 doubles match 6-1 helped the team take the doubles point.
The team continued to cruise from there. Patricio Gallegos (No. 1 singles) and Jesus Fernandez (No. 4 singles) won their matches with matching 6-0, 6-0 scores. Delcanto, playing in the No. 2 singles match, Leon, in the No. 3 singles match, and Benjamin Poblete, in the No. 5 singles, all used 6-1, 6-0 scores to win their singles match. Luis Rosselot won the No. 6 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 score to complete the sweep of the match with their 7-0 match win.
The schedule sends the Bulldogs (7-1, 4-0 AAC) to the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., for a match against NCAA Division II opponent University of North Georgia on Saturday at the inaugural Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
