Dayton, Tenn.- The final road game of the regular season occurred on Wednesday for the (RV) men's soccer team. The schedule saw the team face their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rivals, the Bryan College Lions.
The first half was dominated by the Bulldogs. TWU took six shots over the first 45-minute installment of the game while the Lions were held shotless. The pressure of shots by Jonah Lewis, Zach Blair, Jarimyah Cook, and Wynand Wessels helped the Bulldogs to their first goal of the game. The score happened in the 30th minute when Lewis scored off an assist by Tyriq Gordon, giving the team a 1-0 advantage they took into halftime.
In the second half, the action went back and forth as the teams traded shots throughout the half. Shots by Lewis, Blair, and Neijenhuis did not give the team a second goal. Fortunately for Tennessee Wesleyan, the shots taken by the Lions were either forced off target by the defense or saved by goalkeeper Michael Garrihy, keeping the goose egg and 1-0 victory intact for the Bulldogs.
Garrihy finished with three saves in the net.
The win moved the team's record to 9-2-5 overall and 8-2-2 in the AAC.
