Knoxville, Tenn.- The latest action for the (RV) men's soccer team saw the Bulldogs hit the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game. The schedule pitted the team against the Johnson University Royals.
TWU scored early and fairly often to the tune of five times in the first half. The first goal of the half occurred in the seventh minute when Billy Boag scored to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. Boag struck again in the 16th minute, this time scoring on a penalty kick forced by Keegan Hegarty. Later in the first half, Tennessee Wesleyan scored three goals in a span of three minutes. The first of the three occurred in the 34th minute, put in the net by Jonah Lewis. Two minutes and one second later, Lewis scored his second goal of the contest. One minute and 47 seconds after the second goal, Boag completed a hat trick with his third goal of the game, this one coming off a Cian Gantley assist to give the team a 5-0 advantage at the halftime break.
One more goal came in the game, and it came quickly. Gavin Morgan moved the lead to six goals one minute and 46 seconds into the second half. Johnson was not able to score on the Bulldogs as they were held to four shots in the game, giving TWU a 6-0 win. The Bulldogs attempted 14 corner kicks in the game.
The two goals Lewis scored made his season total ten, the most in the AAC. Boag is now up to eight goals on the season, tied for third in the conference.
