Men's Lacrosse Nail Overtime Winner Against Missouri Baptist

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The men's lacrosse team scored the first goal of overtime on Wednesday to secure a win against Missouri Baptist University. The team won the thrilling game by a final score of 13-12.

Kennedy Moore started the scoring, netting a goal 46 seconds into the game. Missouri Baptist scored three of the next four goals to take over the lead, putting TWU behind 3-2. Madden Leslie scored the tying goal before the opponents took back the lead. Micah Decloedt gave the team back the lead though, scoring two goals before the end of the first quarter to make the score 4-3.

Each team scored one goal in the second quarter. Leslie scored for the Bulldogs, moving the team ahead by two goals. Missouri Baptist scored with 48 seconds left before halftime to send the game to the break with Tennessee Wesleyan leading by one goal. 

Out of the halftime break, TWU scored the opening goal to move their lead back to two goals. The offense went cold for the team as the opponents scored four goals over the remaining minutes of the third quarter, giving them an 8-6 lead to begin the fourth quarter.

The offense came back to life in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs scored six straight goals over the first six minutes. Leslie and Torin Piper scored the first two for TWU while Decloedt and Winsick each punched two goals in, giving the team a 12-8 advantage. Missouri Baptist rallied to score four goals to force the overtime period.

In the sudden death overtime period, Gabe Moore won the faceoff and 39 seconds later, Jesse Zeigler hit the game-winner to give the Bulldogs the win.

TWU (3-2) will stay on the road for a game against Columbia College at 5:00 p.m.
