Men's Golf Sits in Third After First Day of AAC Championship
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga.- The men's golf team played the first two rounds of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship on Monday. The three-round tournament is being played at Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, Ga.
After the first round, the Bulldogs sat in first on the individual and team scoreboard.
On the individual scoreboard, TWU had three players in the top 12. Dalton Sutton was tied for the overall lead with an even par score of 72. A score of 73 left Jacob Parton tied for fourth place while Josh Loveday was in a tie for 12th with a score of 76.
JT McKenzie finished the first round with a score of 82 to place him 49th on the individual scoreboard and a score of 89 belonged to Owen Kreuger, placing him in 63rd.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot a combined score of 303 to be three strokes ahead of second place.
In the second round, Tennessee Wesleyan slipped a little bit. The team finished the round with the third-best score of 301, giving them a total of 604 to finish third after two rounds. The Bulldogs sit one stroke of the first-place score.
Parton finished the second round in sole possession of third place, shooting a 75 to own a 148 two-round total. A score of 73 pushed Loveday up the scoreboard to fourth overall with a total of 149. Sutton finished the second round tied in sixth place after shooting 79 for a two-round score of 151.
A score of 75 helped McKenzie move 16 spots up the scoreboard to a tie for 33rd with a total score of 157. The fifth spot in the lineup saw Cody Skipper sub in, who shot 78 in the second round.
The third and deciding round is set for Tuesday.
