Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Carey Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The men's golf team was back out on the links on Monday and Tuesday. The team traveled to Mississippi to play in the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club. The tournament consisted of three rounds. The course was 6,965 yards long and held a Par of 71.

Monday:

Dalton Sutton was the top Bulldog on the individual scoreboard after the first two rounds. Sutton shot a 71 in the first round and a 72 in the second round to finish with a total of 143, good enough for fifth place. Josh Loveday finished the day in 38th place with a total of 153 after rounds of 80 and 73. A two-round total of 155, broken down to 79 and 76, placed Jacob Parton in 43rd place while Cody Skipper carded a 79 and 84 for a two-round total of 163 for 69th place. JT McKenzie (88, 77; 165) was in 74th place and Owen Kreuger (86, 81; 167) finished the day in 77th place.

As a team, TWU was in 10th place, combining to shoot 316 and 298 in the first rounds for a total score of 614.

Tuesday:

At the completion of the final round, Sutton finished in a tie for eighth place, shooting a 75 for a three-round total of 218. Loveday shot a score of 72 to jump up the leaderboard 14 spots and finish in a tie for 24th with a total of 225. A third-round score of 81 for a total of 236 placed Parton in a tie for 60th while Skipper used a total of 238 after a third-round of 75 to finish tied in 66th place. McKenzie's score of 78 in the third round gave him a total of 243, placing him in 74th. Kreuger carded an 84 in the third round, completing the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with a 77th-place finish and a total of 251.

The team finished 12th on the team scoreboard with a third-round total of 306. The team had a tournament total of 920 for the entire tournament.

Tennessee Wesleyan will be back in Mississippi for their next tournament when they play in the Blue Mountain Spring Classic on March 24-25. The tournament will be played at the Old Waverly Golf Course in West Point, Miss.
