Cold Spell Dooms Men's Basketball Against Bryan
DAYTON, Tenn.- The men's basketball team stayed on the road for a second consecutive time on Tuesday. A contest against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rival, the Bryan College Lions, was on the schedule for the Bulldogs.
Through the first three minutes of action, Amauri Young, Jay Reed, and Kobe Pride all scored to make the score 7-7. Bryan swung the momentum in their favor though as they scored 13 straight points to move ahead 20-7. Nichaune Jones broke the scoring drought with his three-point basket. The tide did not turn in the favor of TWU as the opponents led 36-17 after baskets by Kariden Hardrick and Stratton Lovvorn. Bryan went on to take a 56-23 lead into the halftime break.
The team scored a season-high 50 points in the second half. Young moved the team over 30 points in the contest with his three-point jumper. The team kept adding points, including a layup by Emmanuel Ndambi to move the score to 66-43. Ty Runyan got in on the scoring action, knocking down a three-point basket while Peyton West's free throws made the score 76-50 near the midway point of the second half. The team was unable to complete a comeback, falling by a score of 94-73.
Hardrick led the offense with 11 points.
Up next for the Bulldogs is an exhibtion game against Trevecca Nazarene University on Wednesday. The team steps back into regular season play on Saturday when they host Columbia International University at 4:00 p.m.
